Ferndale House remains OPEN

This year, on the 22nd of January, Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council made the historic decision to keep Ferndale House care home open, despite earlier indications it was going to be closed!

The reprieve came thanks to the tireless and dedicated campaigning, led by two of the Ferndale House staff, Carly Harries and Louren Evans (pictured below), which included writing to their local councillors; setting up petitions and organising a number of vibrant, and very loud (!) street marches.

And Ferndale House will now remain open, until a new replacement has been built at the former “Chubb” Factory site in Ferndale.

To help augment their efforts, Robert Butler and Gerald Francis, along with other members of the Rhondda Cynon Taff Liberal Democrat’s Executive team, delivered our “Save Ferndale House” leaflet across Ferndale and posted the message across our various social media sites. We also included the story within our RCT website – historically available to view by visiting:

And now that the dust has settled

The wellbeing and comfort of the Ferndale House elderly residents, and the livelihood of the forty five fantastic and dedicated staff working there is, once again, secure – an absolutely fantastic outcome!
